Why should a someone register as an Alien?
It is a legal requirement and failure to do so will attract a fine or imprisonment.

Who should register as an Alien?
Any visitor to Kenya who is over 18 years of age and if his/her stay in Kenya exceeds 90 days from the date of entry.

How long does it take to process the Aliens Card?
It takes at least 5 weeks to process the card (usually much longer).

What is the maximum validity of the Aliens card?
Two (2) years

What happens in the case of losing the aliens card?

  1. One should apply for a replacement at a fee of Sh 2,000
  2. Form 50 duly filled and signed (see form below)
  3. 2 passport size photographs
  4. Fingerprints to be redone

Can I collect the card for someone?
The applicant is required to come in person for the card or a written authority from the applicant.

Registration for the first time:

1. Form 50 filled and signed (Alien Registration Form 50)

2. Copy of current/valid Entry Permit/ Pass (Dependent Pass holders must also provide a copy of the Spouse’s permit, passport endorsement of the permit as well as a copy of the Spouse’s passport bio-page)

3. Photocopy of passport (biographical page and page where permit is endorsed)

4. 2 passport size photographs (not older than 6 months, must be taken full face without hat, and the photographs must not be mounted. The size of the face must not be more than 2 ½ inches by 2 inches or less than 2 inches by 1 ½ inches. The photographs must be printed on normal thin photographic paper and must not be glazed).

5. Registration fee of Shs 2,000 (cash)

6. Applicant to present himself/herself for fingerprinting (remember to bring your passport and original permit documents with you as the officers will request to see the originals – try not to hand out your passport or original permit documents.)

Renewals

Below are the requirements for renewal of Aliens Cards:

1. Form 50 filled and signed (Alien Registration Form 50)
